For those who are thinking about starting their own business, need help with QuickBooks, credit counseling or money management, there is a new downtown Los Banos business that offers a, “one-stop shop” location to help.
Mary Castillo Avalos Credit has opened at 907 Sixth Street to assist others in a variety of areas connected to business ownership.
Avalos has 20 year of experience with personal computer business software, bookkeeping, income taxes, credit counseling and human resources.
Her work experience includes, real estate, title and mortgage companies as well as banks. She is certified as a credit counselor, bankruptcy specialist, financial educator and a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
“I have counseled over 3,000 individuals or families,” Avolos said.
She also is a bankruptcy counseling specialist.
“If anyone has a lot of debt and is considering filing for bankruptcy, they may have other options and I can help them to see if it’s the best fit for them,” she said.
She can also help small businesses with their bookkeeping.
“I can help them with Quick Books whether it’s QuickBooks desktop or QuickBooks online and I can help them with organizing their books so at the end of the year they will have a really nice profit and loss statement.”
“As a certified credit counselor, I can help small businesses or individuals manage their money by keeping track of their income and expenses in a nice report to see where their money is going,” Avalos said.
When it comes to a person’s credit report she can see if it can be improved or if she needs to help them reestablish their credit.
As a small business advisor she offers two options. She can teach small businesses how to start, grow and succeed within their business. Or if they need someone to actually do the business work for them, she can take care of those needs as well.
Originally from Monterey, she and her family have lived in Los Banos for four years.
Avalos said has been planning to start her own business for the past 15 years.
“I’ve been working on my certifications and getting mentally prepared and decided that it’s now time,” she said.
